Playing Werewolf

Werewolf was a game that was played (among other occurences) at FuCamp and RegioWikiCamp09 in Furtwangen.

The story
Once upon a time there was a village. It was mainly inhabited by villagers, but there also were other "things": a seer, a healer and some werewolfs. Every night, they kill a villager unless they are caught by the remaining villagers.
What you need
- at least 7 people (+ 1 game master)
- a small sheet of paper for each player
Preparation
- Prepare the cards. Write on them:
- S for seer (1x)
- H for healer (1x)
- W for werewolf (2 for less then 13 people, 3 for more)
- Give one card to each person in a way, that only this person can see what is on it.
- Everyone looks at their cards and puts them away, so nobody sees their content.
- Now the roles for the game are clear ...
During the game
Night
- Game master: "the whole village is going to sleep" - Everyone closes their eyes and start clapping on their thighs.
- GM: "werewolves, awake" - The ones with the w on the card open their eyes.
- GM: "werewolves, pick a victim" - The werewolves signal the gm who they want to kill.
- GM: "werewolves, fall asleep again". - They close their eyes again.
- GM: "seer, awake" - The seer opens his eyes.
- GM: "seer, find out the true nature of a human being" - The seer points to someone. The GM shows him with his fingers, if the person is a villager (V) or a werewolf (W).
- GM: "seer, fall asleep again" - The seer closes his eyes.
- GM: "healer, awake" - The healer opens his eyes.
- GM: "healer, pick someone to heal" - The healer points at the person he wants to heal (often himself).
- GM: "healer, fall asleep again" - The healer closes his eyes.
- GM: "The village awakes and finds ..."
- "... the person killed by the werewolves lying in his blood." more."
- "... blood on the floor." (if the person picked by the werewolves was the same person, the healer pointed on)
- If the killed person wasn't healed, it has to turn its chair around and is no longer allowed to participate in the game.
Day
- GM: "the village awakes and ... lies in his/her blood".
- The villagers discuss how might be a werewolf.
- When they accuse a villager, the trial starts.
- The accused villager has the chance to defend himself/herself.
- If the villagers still believe that he's a werewolf, they "hang" him.
- The villagers continue discussing and accusing until they hang somebody.
End of game
- Werewolfs win when there are only as much villagers as werewolves are left
- Villagers win when they kill all werewolves.
